Drive-by shooting investigation on Sumter Drive in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- We're following breaking news in Fort Myers where investigators are looking for a suspect in an overnight drive-by shooting.

This happened at Sumter Drive near New York Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Fort Myers Police confirmed to 4 in Your Corner Tuesday that 40-year-old Antonio Thomas was wounded by gunfire and rushed to the hospital for non-lethal injuries.

Witnesses described seeing a white Kia Soul or similar vehicle fleeing the scene.

Investigators say they believe this is an isolated incident.

This was the second shooting in Fort Myers on Monday. Police say someone was shot near Fowler Street and Winkler Avenue on Monday afternoon. Officers say that victim was hit in the leg, but they're expected to be okay. An investigation is underway to learn who fired the shot and why.
