CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A popular Italian restaurant in Cape Coral was temporarily shut down Thursday on one of the busiest nights of the year.
The Carrabba’s Italian Grill on Pine Island Road at Skyline Boulevard was closed by health inspectors on Valentine’s Day due to numerous roach droppings in the kitchen area.
Fox 4 found the restaurant's parking lot blocked off Thursday evening, and diners were being turned away.
According to an inspection report filed Thursday, warnings were issued for five basic violations, but it was a high-priority violation that caused the closure. The report describes more than 70 dry rodent droppings discovered in several locations, including in a dry storage area, under an ice machine, behind a standing mixer, and under a dish machine.
Another report filed the same day says the restaurant met inspection standards during the visit.
We reached out to the restaurant, but have yet to hear back.
