After nearly a year and a half on the job, Ft. Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs has made significant changes to his staff.

Three of the 4 captains at Fort Myers Police Department have retired in the last year, one of them, Melvin Perry was suspended after the corruption probe into the police department.

Nearly a year later, the chain of command at FMPD under Diggs looks completely different, with newly hired Deputy Chiefs Jeffrey Meyer and Randall Pepitone reporting directly to the chief.

Pepitone worked under Diggs at the Toledo, Ohio police department.

"We know that violent crime is totally out of whack for a community this size," Diggs told Fox 4 earlier this year.

The chief is trying to implement a program called predictive policing which uses analytics to prevent crime
