FORT MYERS, Fla.-- Jorge Guerrero, the lead suspect in Diana Alvarez's disappearance, is being held without bond on charges that stemmed from the investigation.

On Tuesday, the Lee County Sheriff's Office announced that Guerrero would be charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12 years of age and battery of a child by expelling seminal fluid. On Monday he was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison and is banned from contact with minors.

Guerrero was named in an amber alert for Diana Alvarez's May 2016 disappearance. Deputies say they believe he is responsible for her disappearance.

The attorney for Alvarez's family says they hope that the prospect of added prison time will help to secure a confession from Guerrero.
