Collier County Commissioners approved the sale of 17 acres of land off Bayshore Boulevard to a developer.
Arno Incorporated announced plans for a 50 million dollar pedestrian friendly development in what is now a vacant tract of land.
"It would be a place to live, there would be shops below your condo unit or your apartment," said CEO Arno De Villiers.
The site would also feature a performing arts center and several restaurants.
"There's a lot of potential here, it's an area that's only three miles from downtown Naples, 4 miles from the beach, yet it's still relatively affordable," said John Tippins, who lives next to the site.
Once details of the sale are worked out, it may be another 12 to 14 months before construction begins.
