DeSoto County woman charged with smuggling drugs into correctional facility

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A DeSoto County woman is facing serious charges after being accused of smuggling drugs into a jail.

Deputies say Angela Wells works as a teacher's aide at the Charlotte Correctional Institution. She allegedly smuggled contraband including cell phones and drugs into the prison.

Wells was arrested Friday and is facing several charges including bribery, trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a correctional facility.
