Deputies lead on drunk pursuit, one arrested

An Immokalee man is facing multiple charges after leading officers on a pursuit, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, deputies responded to Immokalee Drive in reference to a driver who had already caused several crashes and was possibly driving while drunk.

The driver, later identified as Gilmer Morales-Guox, 21, was quickly located in a red Chevrolet near Main Street and North 1st Street. When deputies attempted to conducted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated away, turning onto Immokalee Drive.

During the pursuit, the driver hit several structures, crashed into several cars and hit a power pole sheering it off and causing it to come crashing down, according to a CCSO report. 

When the driver lost control of his vehicle, deputies were able to remove him from the van and place him in handcuffs.

His charges include Fleeing/Eluding a Crash, Fleeing/Eluding Police, DUI and Damage Property, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Driving with a Suspended License, and Failure to Have Insurance.
