LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies were called to a Captiva resort Wednesday after a customer reportedly attempted to buy coffee with a fake $1 bill.
It happened at the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island.
According to a Lee County Sheriff's report, a customer at the resort's Starbucks was handed a suspicious $1 bill as part a payment. The worker pointed it out to the customer, who apologized and said he didn't know where it came from.
The customer replaced the fake bill with a legitimate bill, and then left. He is described a 5'9" with gray hair and a heavy German accent.
The fake bill was submitted as evidence.
