LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies were called to a Captiva resort Wednesday after a customer reportedly attempted to buy coffee with a fake $1 bill.

It happened at the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island.

According to a Lee County Sheriff's report, a customer at the resort's Starbucks was handed a suspicious $1 bill as part a payment. The worker pointed it out to the customer, who apologized and said he didn't know where it came from.

The customer replaced the fake bill with a legitimate bill, and then left. He is described a 5'9" with gray hair and a heavy German accent.

The fake bill was submitted as evidence.

If you suspect a counterfeit note or have information about counterfeiting activity, please report it immediately to the U.S. Secret Service, or to your local police.
