UPDATE (1:50PM) -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office tells Fox 4 that this was an "apparent suicide."

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- Lee County deputies and a dive team responded to the water's edge on Fort Myers Beach Thursday morning to conduct a death investigation.
It was happening in the 2500 block of Estero Boulevard.
Several Lee County Sheriff's units were parked on the beach and were soon joined by detectives and dive team members, who were searching in the water with metal detectors.
