Couple reportedly used child to help steal $57,000 diamond ring

ESTERO, Fla. -- Investigators say an unidentified couple stole a diamond encrusted ring from a store last week, and used a small child to help during the crime.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, on Thursday, October 12, two adults and a 5-6 year old boy entered the Saks Fifth Avenue store in Miromar Outlets just before 2 p.m.  The adults pointed out several pieces of jewelry and asked the clerk if they could see certain items in the glass case

After asking to look at a particular ring values at $57,600, the male engaged the clerk in conversation.  While she was distracted, the female can be seen on video instructing the young boy to take the ring and then hand it over to her.

The three left the business shortly thereafter, and the theft remained unnoticed until Friday morning, when store employees conducted routine inventory.  Once they realized the ring had been stolen, store employees and detectives were able to determine that the male and female suspects orchestrated the theft, and blatantly used the young child to achieve their goal.

Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of the male and female adult suspects pictured here is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
