County man arrested after kidnapping, choking woman

NAPLES, Fla. — The Collier County Sheriffs said Johnathan Smith Recinos Urbina is now charged with armed burglary, kidnapping, battery by strangulation, resisting an officer without violence, an assault on a law enforcement officer, and petty theft after the late-night attack on Saturday.

He has been detained by the Collier County Sheriffs Department and will be transferred to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department once he satisfies local charges.

Officers said the incident took place shortly after midnight Saturday.

The victim was inside her home in Naples Manor when she found Recinos Urbina sitting on her couch with her phone. She said she had not invited him over, or permitted to be inside the residence, which was locked.

The victim called authorities after a confrontation with the suspect. The suspect then left home with the victim's phone and got in his truck to leave.

When the victim entered the truck to retrieve her phone, Recinos Urbina drove off with the victim still inside.

According to the police report, Recinos Urbina stopped in the 10000 block of U.S. 41 East, where he pushed the victim from the car and threatened to kill her, and began to choke her before driving away.

Deputies located Recinos Urbina in the 10000 block of U.S. 41 East after a short pursuit, Deputies found him and took him into custody.

The arrest report said Recinos Urbina also threatened the arresting deputy during his transport to jail.
