FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Lee County man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of raping a woman he contacted on a meetup website in 2015.
Last month, a jury found 29-year-old Chunsi Vines guilty for violently raping two women in Cape Coral.
The State Attorney's office says Vines would respond to ads placed by women on the Backpage website.
In August 2015 he had one victim meet him at a home for sale in Cape Coral. Investigators say he raped her, threatened her with weapons, and threatened to drown her.
When he filled the bathtub in the home with water, the woman was able to jump out of a window to get away.
Vines received life for one count of Kidnapping, 30 years for Sexual Battery by Threatening Use of Force or Violence and 5 years for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
