CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Work continues in and around 47th Terrace in Cape Coral while local watering holes and other businesses are counting the days until the end of a project that promises to make the area a must-see destination.
The street and sidewalks in front of the businesses are being spruced up while some public parking lots are being repaired.
The roadway is being refurbished in the hopes of drawing more people to the area. Some businesses, however, won't be around to see it. At least one business, City Subs, did not survive the months-long project and closed earlier this year.
The project manager was on the scene today, as were several members of the work crew. None would speak on camera. Meanwhile, a patron of 'Big Blue Brewing' sports bar Justin Thomas says he gets around the mess, and the sometimes difficult parking situation, by riding his motorcycle to the area.
'Big Blue Brewing' manager Joe Trimini says he's been told the project remains on schedule and should wrap up by year's end. He's also been told several blocks along 47th Terrace will reopen to traffic as early as next weekend.
