NAPLES, Fla. -- One of Collier County's oldest World War II veterans got an incredible gift Wednesday: a brand new cooling system, just in time for summer.
97-year-old Oliver Marcelli served as a Marine in the Pacific during the war. He and his wife have lived in their North Naples home for 40 years.
A service technician with One Hour Air Conditioning, who is also a Marine vet, visited them for an estimate. After learning of Oliver's service, he talked to his superiors about donating the parts and labor for a whole new cooling system.
"These guys are doing one hell of a job for me and my missus, and I just can't say thank you enough,” said Marcelli.
"I came here to thank him for his service to the country. Eventually one of us is going to have say 'you're welcome," said Chad Huddleston.
They say the parts and labor for Oliver's new cooling system would normally cost between $6,000 and $7,000.
