GOLDEN GATE, Fla. — One of Collier County's biggest employers will soon have a lot of jobs to fill. Collier County Public School officials say they're gearing up to hire around 350 new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.
Golden Gate Elementary School principal Kelly Bergey said the hiring need happens every year, for various reasons.
"For family reasons (such as) they're having a baby and taking some time off," Bergey said. "We have plenty of notice."
She said the fact that Collier County Schools is the second-highest paying district in Florida is a big selling point. Only Monroe County schools pay more.
While the school district actively seeks job candidates locally from colleges such Florida Gulf Coast University, Bergey has also developed a relationship with her alma mater, Cabrini University in Pennsylvania, to help the district recruit new teachers.
The Collier County Public School District will also take part in a Teacher Job Fair on Friday. April 5. To register, click here.
