Collier County Board of Commissioners will discuss buying a helicopter

Posted

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.— Today the Collier County Board of Commissioners will discuss buying a helicopter for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Citing a need due to recent fire activity and the threat of more fire activity in the county, the sheriff’s office says the helicopter would be a good firefighting resource.

The new tool would also be used in support of county wide incidents, including search and rescue and as a crime fighting aid.

The cost of the helicopter is $750,000 and to purchase it, Collier County would have to raise their 2017 budget.
