FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.-- The Coast Guard rescued 2 boaters and their dog after their boat took on water.
It happened on Tuesday just after 2 in the afternoon near Fort Myers Beach. The Coast Guard received an alert of a 19-foot fishing boat taking on water and the boaters were in need of emergency assistance.
A Fort Myers Beach response boat crew towed the sinking boat to the Coast Guard station on Fort Myers Beach.
Once dewatering was completed, the boat and the passengers were transported to the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp with no reported injuries.
The Coast Guard urges boaters along Florida's Gulf Coast to monitor Hurricane Michael closely and prepare for impacts of the Category 3 storm.
