A child was rushed to the hospital Monday with severe head trauma and bruising, leading to a child abuse investigation.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is handling the investigation which began Monday when deputies were called to the Golisano Children's Hospital after someone at the hospital saw the child's injuries.
According to an LCSO incident report, the child's mother stated her son had come home from daycare with bruises and scrapes.
She kept him home the next day as a result of his injuries, and she allegedly told her boyfriend to supervise the child while she went to work.
While babysitting, the boyfriend reportedly called the mother claiming the child "appeared to be having a seizure on a trampoline."
The child was taken from his North Fort Myers home and rushed to Golisano Children's Hospital. He was later airlifted to another hospital where a doctor determined the child's injuries were not self-inflicted. The doctor said the child's head trauma was proof of a non-accidental inflicted trauma.
It's not yet clear if the anyone will face charges in this case.
