FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police are investigating a hit and run crash that injured a young child Tuesday morning.
It happened on Pine Street, just south of Palm Beach Boulevard, shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday.
A witness at the scene tells Fox 4 that a vehicle struck a 4-year-old child who had run into the road. The driver initially stopped and got out, but left the scene before police arrived.
The witness attempted to follow the driver, but lost them in traffic. The witness returned to the scene to talk to police.
The child was taken to the hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
Police say a small white sedan fled the scene.
