FORT MYERS, Fla-- A local charity is calling on businesses to help with the fundraising for their annual golf tournament.
The Jim Cook Classic is an annual tournament that raises money and donates the proceeds to a local child in need. This year they are raising money for Kayden Kafka.
Unfortunately, the pandemic is making the fundraising process a little more difficult this year. Event coordinator Susan Cook believes businesses are still hurting which has resulted in fewer donations.
"We do have a GoFundMe page and any restaurants that want to get on board-- even one dinner or a $25 gift certificate-- are the kinds of things we are looking for," said Cook.
The Kafka family said every dollar makes a difference. Their son Kayden was diagnosed with a Mitochondrial disease that impacts his everyday life.
Kayden’s doctors want him to start seeing experts that are out of stats so they plan to use the money mostly for travel-related expenses.
The Jim Cook classic will be at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Fort Myers on April 17. Click here for more information on the GoFundMe and event.
