The Collier County Sheriff's Office released a statement condemning the officers of the Minneapolis Police Department who were involved in the death of George Floyd.

The statement says, "the actions and inactions of these officers in Minneapolis are unacceptable for any human beings to engage in and especially for our law enforcement officers who are entrusted with authority by our communities and are rightfully held to a higher level and standard of responsibility and accountability."

Floyd, a black man, died while being arrested by a white police officer. Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was arrested on Friday on third-degree murder charges.

According to a report, Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for eight minutes, and 46 seconds. The report also reveals, Floyd was unresponsive for the final two minutes and 53 seconds.
