The Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies works to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes by offering free services in Punta Gorda.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in three women and one in four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.

Domestic violence includes physical violence, sexual violence, abuse or threats.

The C.A.R.E. center's goal is to promote healthy relationships. They're offering a free "Technology Safety" presentation on Wednesday at the Charlotte Technical Center. This presentation will go over the intersection between technology and domestic violence. Topics will include privacy on the internet, social media, surveillance, cell phone risks and methods for the safe use of technology. For a list of all their upcoming events, click here.
