FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The State Fire Marshall is investigating a vehicle fire in Fort Myers on Sunday that is considered suspicious.

The fire happened around 6 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Snyderman Shoe Plaza on Trailwinds Drive.

According to a Lee County Sheriff's Office report, the car's owner says he saw flames coming from the car as he walked towards it that morning. He say the car was locked and had no recent mechanical issues with the car.

The owner did say that he lives in the apartment complex across the street, but parks the car in the plaza with the owner's permission due to a loud exhaust, saying he doesn't want to disturb neighbors early in the morning.

Due to the fire being suspected arson, a fire investigator responded to the scene.
