A car crashed through the bridge barrier along SR-31 early Thursday morning causing a search through the Caloosahatchee River, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said they shut down the bridge between Bayshore Rd. and Palm Beach Blvd. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. and the bridge was still closed as of 9:15 a.m.

The Lee County Sheriff's office assisted troopers with the investigation. They said the car was completely submerged in the water. They also had their aviation, marine, and dive teams on scene investigating.

Both agencies didn't release any information about the driver.
