CAPE CORAL, Fla — Cape Coral Police Chief David Newlan announced Wednesday that the department has suspended the extended bar hours liquor license for Dixie Roadhouse.

Dixie won't be able to serve liquor after 2:00 am.

Police say the popular bar along Southeast 47th Terrace was the site of a huge brawl earlier this month.

According to an incident report, 40 people were involved in the melee, which started in the bar and spilled out into the street. Some of the people in the brawl are connected to gangs in the area.

The report also faulted Dixie's staff for allowing members of biker gangs into the bar and allowing patrons to over-consume alcohol.

Police say in September there were 6 incidents drunkenness at the establishment. One person was found passed out at the bar, another in a nearby parking lot. Two DUI related accidents were directly linked to Dixie.

The owner of Dixie Roadhouse did not return a call from 4 In Your Corner Wednesday afternoon.

The bar can call for an emergency meeting to appeal the police department's decision.
