CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A large hole is currently being investigated in Cape Coral on Chiquita Blvd and SW 47th Ter.
UPDATE - 9/12/2023 11:31 A.M.
A representative from the Cape Coral City Manager's Office has told Fox 4 that this is not a sinkhole. A sinkhole is a natural occurrence. This large hole was caused by a water main break.
Just under 50 city utility customers were affected but crews had power restored by 7:30 p.m. last night.
Southbound Chiquita will reopen today and close tomorrow at 5 a.m. while crews continue to repair the road.
Northbound Chiquita will remain closed today and most of tomorrow.
The city expects to have the road repaired and reopened late tomorrow evening.
