CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral’s former Mayor Roger Butler, who served as a police officer before being elected mayor, died February 25, at the age of 85.
Butler was elected in 1993 and 1996, he served as Mayor from 1993 to 2000.
Butler also served as a Cape Coral police officer, beginning in 1973. He rose through the ranks and retired as a police captain in 1987.
The City of Cape Coral extends its sympathies to Roger’s family and a heartfelt thanks to Roger for his dedicated service to the Cape Coral community. In honor of the former Mayor, the City flag will be flown at half-staff until Monday, March 1.
A celebration of life will be planned by the family.
