UPDATE (12/12) -- Police say they have learned the identity of a man seriously injured in a bicycle crash Wednesday in Cape Coral.

They say a member of the public was able to provide the man's identity as 74-year-old Gary Eymann of North Fort Myers.

Eymann suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, and remains at Lee Memorial Hospital.

Investigators say the bicycle's chain became dislodged and hit Eymann's leg. When he hit the brakes, Eymann tumbled over the handlebars onto the roadway. No motor vehicles were involved in the crash.
