CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A baseball player from Southwest Florida is now a member of the Tampa Bay Rays farm system.
Shane McLanahan was drafted 31st overall in the Major League Baseball amateur draft Monday night.
The left-handed pitcher graduated from Cape Coral High School and more recently attended the University of South Florida.
McLanahan was originally drafted by the Mets in the 26th round coming out of high school in 2015, but instead opted to continue to college.
