TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A new bill following a deadly crash on a southwest Florida road is now heading to the Governor's desk.
The bill is called the "Cameron Mayhew Act" and it would give harsher penalties to people who drive by stopped school buses.
Last year, 16-year-old Cameron Mayhew was hit and killed by a car, when he was trying to board his bus on Pine Ridge Rd. in Fort Myers.
The driver, Zachary Treinen, recieved a $1,000 fine and his license was suspended for 6 months.
Under the new bill, violators would face a $1,500 fine, and they'd lose their license for at least a year.
