FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Thousands of people rung in the New Year in downtown Fort Myers.
People partied in the middle of the street where it was one big party but it left one big mess.
Crews spent hours cleaning up the trash left on the streets and sidewalks.
Crews went street by street cleaning up empty beer cans, plastic cups and New Year’s decorations.
Once the partying was over, there were some car crashes in Lee County.
A white convertible crashed into a tree less than 2 miles from downtown Fort Myers.
It happened on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Tuesday morning.
Fort Myers Police are investigating the crash.
Then, East of downtown, there was a car fire on Palm Beach Blvd.
Police said the cause was electrical.
The back of the car was burnt out.
We are working to find out if there were injuries in either incident.
We are also working to find out if alcohol was a factor.
