CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police have released body camera video of an officer's good deed in helping reunite a lost dog with its owner.

According to Cape Coral Police, on Saturday morning, Officer Victor Maduro responded to Hancock Bridge Pkwy and SE 24th Avenue for an Animal Complaint. Officer Maduro located the dog, which was very apprehensive and didn’t want to cooperate.

Police say Officer Maduro was persistent and knew that if this was a lost dog the owner was most likely desperate to get him back. The officer followed the Labradoodle around and was finally able to get a hold of him where he could secure the dog and get him safely into the back of his patrol vehicle.

Officer Maduro gave the dog some water and waited for Lee County Animal Control who took custody of the dog.

Police say the owner was located and was indeed looking for the lost dog and was very happy to get him back.
