NAPLES, Fla. — Residents in a Naples neighborhood are on high alert after a bear is spotted roaming the area more than a dozen times.
The most recent sighting happened early Sunday morning, where it appeared the bear might be hurt.
"[For] about two weeks now, a black bear that has an injured back leg has been showing up at our residences," said Carol Mills, who lives in the area.
The bear has been spotted numerous times over the past two weeks limping right past people's front doors, and it's all captured on Ring Video.
"He's losing weight from the very first video to the very last, he looks thinner to me, and he seems to be a younger bear, his coat is still good," said Mills.
While this is not the first time people spot a bear in this Naples area — just off I-75 and Radio Road — residents fear that, although this bear has not injured anyone, it could get desperate for food.
"I have been reaching out to Fish and Wildlife, and it's been two weeks now. We don't want anyone to get hurt, so we want the right thing to be done," said Mills.
While people's safety is the priority, Mills also hopes the bear gets the help it needs.
"Hopefully, they can fix it and release him somewhere he can run off and be a bear," said Mills.
We have reached out to the Fish and Wildlife and are waiting for a comment on this issue.
