CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A traffic stop led to the arrest of two people on numerous drug charges in Charlotte County Wednesday. One suspect even had tried hiding some of the drugs in his butt crack.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, a deputy stopped a car driven by 23-year-old Matthew Nero for speeding on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.
The deputy says Nero and his passenger, 18-year-old Alexa Powers, were acting extremely nervous and drug paraphernalia was seen in their car. A sniff of the area around the car by K9 Scar indicated the presence of drugs inside.
That's when Nero admitted having drugs on him. Further investigation discovered numerous drugs in possession by both occupants. This included marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, pills, needles, a digital scale.
When Nero was asked if there were any additional drugs, he said “I have some stuff in my a**crack, I will get it. I don’t want you reaching in there.” He removed Glad ziplock baggies containing 2.7 grams of cocaine and 15 grams of heroin.
Nero was arrested for Possession of Heroin in excess of 10 grams, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell, Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Alexa Powers was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
