Arrest made in murder of Naples woman on New Years Day

NAPLES, Fla. -- Federal investigators have made an arrest in Georgia for the man they say murdered a Naples woman in her home this week.

35-year-old Thomas J. Evans of Illinois was arrested in Houston County, Georgia Friday by members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force.

Naples Police detectives identified Evans as the suspect in the death of 78-year-old Frances K. Axley, who was found dead in her Chesapeake Avenue home on January 1st. Her death has been determined to be caused by sharp force injury.

Evans is facing a 2nd Degree Murder charge.
