FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police say they've charged a woman for leaving the scene of a fatal crash on Colonial Boulevard last week in Fort Myers.
The crash happened near the intersection with State Road 82 around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18.
Police say 50-year-old Rivera Ortiz was crossing Colonial Boulevard on foot when she was hit by a vehicle. She later died from her injuries.
Later that day, a 911 call came in from near Miromar Outlets from a woman reporting that she struck a pedestrian.
According to Fort Myers Police, they've since arrested 46-year-old Beatrix Lutz, with the help of the Collier County Sheriff's Office, and charged her with felony leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
Lutz is from Germany and may face deportation after charges here are resolved.
