LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies have arrested a man they say tried to rob a Lee County convenience store last week.

25-year-old Richard McDowell is charged with one count of armed robbery and is now being held without bond in the Lee County Jail.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, on Friday, a man arrived at the Zoom Thru store on Palm Beach Boulevard on a bicycle.

The suspect pulled a knife on the clerk and demanded cash, but fled the scene when another customer approached.

McDowell was identified as a suspect and arrested Wednesday.
