FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Prosecuters say new evidence in a 2004 murder case in Lee County has led to Second Degree Murder charges on a man currently in jail in Texas.

State Attorney Amira D. Fox made the announcement Monday with Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

Terry McDonald is now charged in the murder of 28-year-old Mary Mount.

Fox says she asked the newly formed State Attorney’s Office Cold Case Homicide Division to help bring resolution to Mary’s case.

The team has been working diligently with the accumulated evidence and recently traveled to Arizona and then to Texas where McDonald is incarcerated for another crime.

Mount had last been seen with McDonald in January 2004 when she went missing. Police in El Paso said that McDonald led them to her body in 2005, but has not been formerly charged with her murder until now.
