The AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Fort Myers celebrated 30 years of work with a gala where they highlighted the treatment given to those affected by the epidemic in Southwest Florida. The organization focuses on providing care and resources to those who can't get access to what they need.

"We offer free HIV testing counseling and case management", Russell Walker told Fox 4. Walker oversees operations for the entire southwest region which includes Florida and Puerto Rico.

He says that when it comes to HIV and AIDS, there's an entire population in Fort Myers that doesn't get as much attention as other demographics.

"The youth population. It's affecting the young people here."

According to Walker, Florida ias the state with the state that ranks number one for new infections.

"The disease is still out there", he told Fox 4.
