9/11 ceremonies in the Southwest Florida area

Cape Coral
Cape Coral Leaders will pay tribute to lives lost on 9/11.

They will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony outside City Hall (1015 Cultural Park Boulevard).

The event begins at 8:30 am and will pay tribute to the lives lost on 9/11.

The event will include brief remarks from Mayor Joe Coviello and City Manager Rob Hernandez.

An invocation and a radio all tone and announcement at 8:46 were when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

There will also be a moment of silence and laying of a community remembrance wreath at the national flagpole base.

While the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony is an outdoor event, attendees are asked to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

The Southwest Florida 10-13 (Retired NYPD) will hold a memorial ceremony.

Breakfast will be offered for $8 per plate.

They will be hosting a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds to benefit the museum.

Their ceremony is being held at the Southwest Florida Military Museum at 4820 Leonard Street in Cape Coral.

The event will be held from 8:30 am to 12 pm.

Naples
The City of Naples will host a 9/11 ceremony at the Freedom Park in Naples to remember all the victims and honor their families. We will be "Reading the Names" of the fallen.

The ceremony will start 8:15 am to 12:30 pm Or when the last name is read.

The ceremony will pause at six moments - twice to mark the times that each plane hit the towers, twice to mark the time when each tower fell, and to mark the moments of the attacks on the Pentagon and Flight 93.

The first moment of silence will be at 8:46 am. The ceremony will conclude at approximately 12:30 pm (this is subject to change).

The Freedom Memorial Foundation of Naples will be hosting a 9/11 a candlelight remembrance at the Fred W. Coyle Freedom Park on 1515 golden gate parkway in Naples at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

At approximately 7:00 pm, Air Force veteran and pilot Major Jessica Sterns will be a flyover, followed by a brief invocation/prayer. Then Guns & Hoses Pipe band will perform a military salute medley followed Amazing Grace. This ceremony is brief as there is no seating, and social distancing will be practiced. The public is asked to please wear face masks.

Complementary white luminaries, which may be personalized, and flameless candles, will be provided free of charge throughout the evening. The luminaries will be placed around the memorial and will remain lit throughout the night.

For attendees at the candlelight remembrance this evening, there is additional parking 1/4 mile west of the Freedom Park entrance at the Iberia Bank building on Goodlette Frank and Golden Gate Parkway.

Please consider bringing water and a chair as refreshments and seating is not provided.

Bonita Springs
The Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District will host a patriot's day ceremony.

The ceremony will be located at the Bonita Springs Fire Station One at 27490 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs.

It will start at 9:30 until about 10:30 am.

CDC guidelines will be followed during this ceremony. Social distancing and masks will be required throughout the event.

On September 1st Bonita Sprigs Firefighter Marc Weiss, 49 lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Today at 5:00 pm recruits will be suiting up in full firefighting gear to climb 110 stories at the Bonita Spring Fire Training Center.

The goal is to help raise awareness for the amazing person Marc Weiss was and to help fundraise for his two young daughters that he left behind.

The family of the fallen fire fighter will be in attendance.

Golden Gate
Golden Gate will hold its 9/11 ceremony at the Golden Gate Government Complex, 4715 Golden Gate Parkway, at 9:30 am.

This year's service will be abbreviated due to coronavirus.

They are asking attendees to take precautions and social distance.

The service will also be live-streamed on the Golden Gate Civic Association Facebook page.

Fort Myers

The Unique Imagez Barber Shop will be giving service members in Fort Myers, FL FREE haircuts, in honor of all the 9/11 service members who risked their lives for our freedoms.

Their ceremony will begin at 9 am at 3567 Fowler Street in Fort Myers.

Cutting will begin after a few words of thanks from our community.

The Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda will be hosting a 9/11 tribute concert.

The concert will be held at Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda and will start from 5 pm to 9 pm.
