CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies arrested 47-year-old James Reginald King for his behavior towards a 15-year-old girl and her family. King is charged with cyber stalking a minor under 16 and tampering with a witness.
The 15-year-old told investigators that King texted her and asked for her to come over his house because he needed to talk to her.
The report said King used other methods like cash and random gifts in order to get her to come over.
The young woman said that her neighbor even bought 14 carat gold earrings without her or her parents knowing.
Neighbors upset to learn what happened on their street.
"I can't believe it, it's just such a family-oriented neighborhood," Brenda Morris said. "I feel so sorry for the young lady that it happened to," she added.
According to the report, the family told James to stop contacting the 15-year-old. She told investigators that she felt emotional distress when she received texts from him.
"It takes a lot of courage. You got to give that little girl credit. It shows other kids to step up and not be afraid either," Charlie Mooney said.
King threatened his neighbors with trying to get them evicted if they reported it.
Neighbors hopes what took place on their street serves as a warning to parents.
"Just watch out for your children and be aware," Morris said.
King bonded out of the Charlotte County Jail.
