42-year-old man dead after crash on U.S. 41

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — A 42-year-old man has died following a crash on U.S. 41 near Chamberlin Boulevard, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the man was traveling northbound on U.S. 41, approaching Chamberlin Boulevard at a high rate of speed around 6:20 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say a vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Chamberlin Boulevard and U.S. 41 and proceeding to crash when it was hit by the man.

The man was ejected from his car and landed on the right shoulder of U.S. 41. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.

The second vehicle came to a stop on the center median of U.S. 41, according to FHP.

The crash is under investigation.
