HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers say a LaBelle boy died Sunday when he entered the path of a dump truck.
It happened around 4 p.m. on Evans Road near Fussell Grade Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 12-year-old Noah Alvarado was riding a kneeboard in the westbound lane of Evans Road but entered the eastbound lane as a dump truck was approaching.
The driver of the truck attempted to avoid the child, but the truck struck the boy before going into a ditch and hitting a fence.
Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck's driver was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
