NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla., - Lee County deputies arrested the 10th person in 2 months on drug related charges this week.
A narcotics operation led to the arrest of Ashley Elizabeth Kimball, 28, in North Fort Myers Thursday. She sold .13 grams of crack cocaine, according to a police report.
Deputies say the arrest occurred in Cabana City, an area where drug deals are common.
Nearby residents weren’t surprised by the latest arrest.
“It’s just another bust,” said Willie Weatherly.
“I’m just shaking my head at this point,” said another resident.
Residents say they’ve witnessed a lot of drug activity in their neighborhood.
“This just seems to be the place everyone comes to whether they’re getting high or getting drugs.”
Deputies have acknowledge their awareness of the problem.
Another operation led to the arrest of 9 people in September.
But the problem is far from contained.
“All throughout the day, you always see this stuff - People going in and hanging out outside the house. Everyone in the neighborhood knows whats going on,” Weatherly said.
She believes a greater deputy presence in her community is necessary to address the problem.
Kimball is currently facing charges related to possession of cocaine and selling near a church.
