CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- You certainly don't see this often in Southwest Florida: a crocodile. And this one was spotted near a playground.
Residents spotted this approximately 9-foot reptile Tuesday afternoon taking a nap along a small strip of waterfront at the Coral Cove Condominiums. That's located behind the Walmart on Del Prado Boulevard.
Alligators are pretty common sight in the area. Crocodiles, not so much -- which is why residents are so awestruck.
Crocodile typically live in brackish or saltwater areas, and can be found in ponds, coves, and creeks. But they are occasionally encountered inland in freshwater, as a result of an extensive canal system, which Cape Coral is known for.
