FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A local park is now in line for a major makeover, thanks to your input.
Jefferson Park in Fort Myers has just won a national contest to receive a $20,000 redevelopment grant.
Neighbors say the park's playground was long overdue for renovations. Some of the equipment is considered dangerous, and since local funds weren't used to update it, one local mom took it upon herself to enter the contest to help the park.
She produced a video that was selected as a top 10 finalist out of 20,000 applicants. An online voting contest was then launched to select the five winning parks.
Monday, dreams for Jefferson Park became a reality, as it was announced that the park was among the top five receiving votes.
Congratulations!
