LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Bald eagle E8, one of Southwest Florida's beloved eagle cam residents, continues to recover following surgery last week.
It was operated on after being found with a broken leg in North Fort Myers recently. Vets said this weekend that the eagle's protein levels are still dangerously low and will continue to receive constant care.
Monday, vets at CROW said the eagle is showing signs of improvement. The eagle is eating herring on its own and can fully stand.
E8 initially went missing on May 7th after the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam showed the bird being attacked by an owl.
This is the second time E8 has undergone treatment this year. A few months ago as an eaglet it entered rehab after getting tangled in fishing line.
