FORT MYERS, Fla. -- For the first time ever, over 100 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more in the next two weeks, according to AAA. That is almost one in three people across that country that will be traveling between December 23rd and January 3rd.
Most holiday travelers will be driving, making up almost 90 million of those with plans. The good news is AAA expects gas prices to be below $2.00 at most gas stations across the country.
Mark Jenkins of AAA says, "A global oversupply of oil has led to the lowest gas prices for the year-end holidays since 2008".
Essentially, Jenkins explains, gas prices have dropped because there is more than enough oil and gasoline supplies around the world to meet current demand. Prices could decline even more over the coming weeks but it is hard to know how much.
