FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Starting this week, 12,000 people are expected to walk through the Fort Myers Holiday House celebration. But opening the doors to the historic Burroughs and Langford-Kingston homes on East First Street almost hit a serious roadblock.
Weak spots in the structure of the Langford-Kingston home caused a sagging floor that could have meant lights out for part of the tour!
But city engineers and workers were able to shore up the property this weekend.
It is a tour that promises to ignite your imagination and inspire holiday cheer.
The theme of this years Holiday House is Tropical Paradise. That means you can expect to see lots of flamingos, oranges, and coconuts as you tour the historic homes on East First Street in the Fort Myers River District.
The Holiday House tour is sponsored by the Fort Myers Woman's Community Club. 300 volunteers, including a number of Junior ROTC squads helped out with putting up the decorations.
The holiday house tour starts this Friday December 11th to the 23rd. Hours of operation are from 5-9 pm.
