A tweet from Donald Trump marking Cinco de Mayo at Trump Tower in New York showed a photo of Trump posing with a taco salad, with the caption: "Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!"
Even if the sentiment is sincere, Hispanic groups like the National Council of La Raza say that the tweet misses the mark, with its president Janet Murguia calling it "offensive and self-promoting."
Friday, Fox 4 asked Florida Governor Rick Scott, who has endorsed Trump, if he was concerned that the tweet might back-fire when Florida's Hispanic voters head to the polls.
"I think the selection is pretty clear," Scott said. "On one side we've got Donald Trump the business person, somebody that's going to focus on creating jobs. Somebody that wants to destroy ISIS. Somebody that knows how business works."
"I predict Donald Trump will have a big win in Florida, and a big win nationwide," Scott added.
Trump has also faced criticism among Hispanic voters concerning his support of a wall on the Mexican border.
